Lineage Detector
Efficient tool for detecting new SARS-CoV-2 lineages using UShER phylogenetic placement. Published at bioRxiv 2024 (sole author).
Lineage Detector is a bioinformatics tool for rapidly identifying newly emerging SARS-CoV-2 lineages from genomic sequence data. It builds on the UShER phylogenetic placement framework to efficiently assign Pango lineage designations to novel viral sequences.
As a Pango Lineage Volunteer Spotter since 2023, Xu Zou has contributed to the global SARS-CoV-2 lineage surveillance effort by proposing and curating new lineage designations. This tool automates key parts of that workflow, helping researchers and public health officials track variant emergence more quickly.
